A new way to train in play therapy
After listening closely to the play therapy community, Outside of the Box Therapy created Beyond the Box: an all-in-one pathway for professionals who want to use therapeutic play with children confidently and effectively, with the full recognition and support of the Association for Play Therapy.
You build practical, real-world skills for engaging children through play, and you complete the academic training and supervised instruction required for the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential.

A clear, three-part training model
How the program works
The RPT credential asks for three kinds of hours. Beyond the Box covers instruction and supervision in one program and helps you plan the third.
Instruction
Online courses and live workshops that build a strong theoretical and practical foundation in play therapy.
Included in packages
Supervision
Reflective guidance, ethical support and feedback as you apply play therapy in real-world settings.
Included in packages
Experiential
Direct client contact using play therapy, completed at your workplace or by contracting with Outside of the Box Therapy.
Not part of packages
Experiential hours aren't part of any package. Complete them at your workplace, or contract with Outside of the Box Therapy to complete them. Call us to talk it through.

From foundations to supervision
To meet the 150 hours of academic instruction the RPT requires, you start with three foundational online courses, then move through experiential learning and elective workshops at your own pace.
