Qualifications

Mary Elizabeth Watson, AKA, Liz, graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology from the University of South Carolina, minoring in women and gender studies and graduated with her Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in licensed professional counseling with an emphasis on family and marriage.

• Trained in intensive DBT and has actively participated in the Outside of the Box Therapy’s DBT Team.
• Completed training on Sensate Therapy, as well as CBT, Art Therapy, Client Centered and trauma.
  
• Previously worked at Carolina Center for Behavioral Health, with in home care and has run several social skills group.
  
• Has been with Outside of the Box Therapy since 2021, first as an intern and now as a licensed therapist on staff.

Therapeutic perspective

The goal is to meet clients where they are, as best she can, so she continues to participate in trainings to meet those needs. She works with clients of all genders and sexual orientations from adolescence on up to later adulthood. Although her primary focus is on adults and relational dynamics, she also addresses anxiety, depression, trauma and grief integrating a combination of both traditional talk therapy and expressive media.

The professional, confidential relationship required for therapy limits other contact with me, including other business or social settings. This is to protect your confidential counseling process and is part of a therapist’s ethical code.
